What to see and do in Bonrepòs i Mirambell

Bonrepòs i Mirambell
Village
Bonrepòs i Mirambell is a municipality in the comarca of L'Horta Nord, in the province of Valencia, formed of two population centres, Bonrepós and Mirambell, on a flat area of barely 1.05 square kilometres bordered to the west and south by the Carraixet ravine. Its two centres originated in two separate Andalusi alquerías, taken by James I in 1237 during the campaign to conquer Valencia with the help of the troops of Guillem Ruiz d'Azagra; the king granted the hamlet of Mirambell to Constatí Ros, and in 1472 John II granted Bonrepós to Francesc Jardí de Menaguerra, extending his jurisdiction to Mirambell, then a Morisco quarter. In the 16th century both centres passed to the Montoliu family of Tarragona, when barely a dozen families lived there. Today it has 4,115 inhabitants.

Located on calle Mayor in the centre of Bonrepós, its current construction began in 1755, replacing an earlier temple from 1574, and it consists of a single nave with a bell tower. Inside it preserves various 18th-century paintings, together with others of more recent date.
Andalusi origin of Bonrepòs i Mirambell
Curiosity
Bonrepòs i Mirambell is made up of two population centres that originated from two Andalusi settlements taken by Jaime I in 1237. Bonrepòs was a Muslim alquería which, after the conquest, became royal territory. Near it stood the hamlet of Mirambell, populated by Moriscos until their expulsion from the Kingdom of Valencia in 1609.
