What to see and do in Benimassot

Benimassot
Village
Benimassot is one of the smallest municipalities in El Comtat, in Alicante, located in the Seta valley, at the foot of the Sierra de Almudaina, with barely 85 inhabitants. Known as the Balcony of the Serrella for its scenic setting, it offers rock formations such as the Tossal Blanc, the Penyal de Cantacuc and les Covetes Roges, with cave art; the town centre, with steep streets and flower-decked balconies, is reached through a tunnel. Of Muslim origin, in 1602 it was inhabited by eighteen Morisco families. It preserves the church of the Purísima Concepción, from the 17th century, in whose honour the patron saint festivities are held in the second half of August, with dishes such as olla en pilotes de dacsa, l'arròs al forn and coquetes fregides.
