Sant Julià del Llor i Bonmatí
Village
Sant Julià del Llor i Bonmatí is a municipality of the Selva comarca, in the province of Girona, formed by the districts of Sant Julià del Llor and Bonmatí, beside the river Ter, which forms the border with la Cellera de Ter and Anglès. It covers 9.8 km² and has about 1,450 inhabitants. It was constituted as an independent municipality in 1983 on separating from Amer; Sant Julià del Llor has been documented since the year 949, and the industrial colony of Bonmatí was founded in 1903 by Manuel Bonmatí i Cendra beside the Ter, whose waters powered its textile mills and a paper mill. It preserves the church of Sant Julià del Llor, declared a historic-artistic monument, and the Mas Bonmatí, with its five-storey octagonal tower and the chapel of the Immaculate Conception.
