What to see and do in Tortellà

Tortellà
Village
Tortellà is a municipality in the north of the Garrotxa, along the course of the Llierca river, in the Alta Garrotxa sub-comarca. With 809 inhabitants in 2019 and 11.07 km², it is the thirteenth most populous municipality in the comarca; the town stands at 276 metres, 18 kilometres from Olot. The northernmost part of the municipality forms part of the protected area of the Alta Garrotxa. The terrain is rugged to the north with pre-Pyrenean foothills that do not exceed 900 metres, such as Montsipòsit, and descends southward to the plain of Tortellà. Besides the Llierca, which forms the border with Montagut i Oix, the municipality is crossed by the Juiàs river. Together with neighbouring municipalities it forms the Vall del Llierca grouping. Industry is its main economic activity.
