What to see and do in Lladó

Lladó
Village
Lladó, in the Alt Empordà, stands on the left bank of the Manol river, in the upper valley of its course, at the foot of the eastern buttresses of the Mare de Déu del Mont, below the mountain of Falgars. It has 822 inhabitants (INE 2025). Documented since 977, its old quarter of narrow streets and stone houses is arranged around a large main square dominated by the remains of the former Augustinian canonry of Santa Maria de Lladó, in 12th-century Romanesque style, whose monastic life had been restored in 1089 and which was abandoned in 1835. Part of its buildings passed to the town hall and others to private houses. Next to it stands the church of Sant Feliu, a parish until 1929 and rebuilt in the 18th century on an 11th-century temple.
