Vilalba Sasserra
Village
Vilalba Sasserra is a small municipality in the Vallès Oriental comarca, located at its northeastern tip, on the border with the comarca of El Maresme, at 200 meters above sea level. It has 794 inhabitants and lives off dry farming. Its current name, documented on the coat of arms approved in 1984, refers to the Corredor mountain range, on whose northern side the village sits, while until the 15th century it was called Vulpelleres, from the Latin vulpes, fox, an animal that also appears on the municipal coat of arms. It preserves the old church, now turned into the municipal cemetery, which dates from 1023, and within its territory, on the border with Llinars del Vallès, stands the dolmen of the Pedra Arca, dated to around 2000 BC. Scenes from series such as La Casa de Papel were filmed in its streets.
