What to see and do in Vallgorguina

Vallgorguina
Village
Vallgorguina is a municipality in the Vallès Oriental comarca, in the Baix Montseny sub-comarca, on the border with the Maresme. It has 3,261 inhabitants (INE 2025) and its economy combines agriculture, livestock and poultry farming with second-home developments. Its coat of arms bears the saltire or cross of San Andrés, an attribute of the village's patron saint, and at its center the arms of the barons of Montclús, former lords of the place. It is best known for the dolmen of the Pedra Gentil, on the road from Sant Celoni to Arenys de Munt, a simple-chamber burial site that preserved seven supporting slabs, although some were relocated when the monument was rebuilt in 1885. The village also has the Museu del Bosc i de la Pagesia.
Dolmen of la Pedra Gentil
Nature
The dolmen of the Pedra Gentil is a single-chamber megalithic tomb, about 4000 years old, located in the municipality of Vallgorguina, within the Montnegre i el Corredor Natural Park and near the ruins of the church of Santa Eulàlia de Tapioles. It is declared a cultural asset of local interest. It was restored in 1885 by Josep Pradell, owner of the estate where it stands, who left a reconstruction that does not respect its original appearance: the capstone is broken and some of the seven slabs supporting it have been relocated and enlarged. Tradition marked it as a meeting place for witches, and on the night of Saint John popular sabbaths continue to be held there.
