Vallromanes
Village
Vallromanes is a small municipality in the south of the Vallès Oriental, in the province of Barcelona, on the border with the Maresme and near the Montnegre massif, with 2,778 inhabitants. It extends across the northwestern slope of the Sant Mateu range, in the Litoral mountain range, drained by the Vallromanes stream, a tributary of the Mogent stream, and by the Ardenya stream. The territory is mountainous, with scrubland and pine and holm oak forests, and hosts high-income developments around the Vallromanes Golf Club. The range reduces the sea's thermal effect, so winters there are somewhat colder than on the coastal slope. At 25 kilometers from Barcelona, it forms part of the city's urban region.
Church of Vallromanes
Monument
Parish church of Vallromanes (Vallès Oriental), dedicated to Sant Vicenç. The earliest reference to the church dates back to the year 970, and its status as a parish has been documented since 1183. The current building, in Neo-Gothic style and built of masonry except for the portal and windows made of Figueró stone, was constructed in 1908 while Francesc Cardús was rector. From the old Romanesque church a semicircular ashlar apse survives, with a window splayed on the inside, and among its features the raised wooden choir loft above the entrance stands out.
