Sant Cebrià de Vallalta
Village
Sant Cebrià de Vallalta is a municipality in the interior of the Maresme comarca, between Sant Iscle de Vallalta and Sant Pol de Mar, at the foot of the Serra del Montnegre and at 71 metres above sea level. Its origin goes back to the division into parishes of the Montpalau domain after the Frankish conquest of Gothia: in 1019 the bishop of Girona consecrated the old hermitage of Santa Maria as Sant Cebrià de Vallalta, and in 1079 the place is again documented, now as “Sancti Cipriani de Valle Alta”, belonging to the viscounty of Cabrera together with Pineda, Calella, Sant Pol, Canet and Sant Iscle de Vallalta. Its parish church, in late Gothic style, was built in 1577 over an earlier building probably Romanesque; nearby stands the Cal Coris farmhouse, with Renaissance windows.
