What to see and do in Viladecavalls

Viladecavalls
Village
Viladecavalls is a mountain municipality of the comarca of Vallès Occidental, in the province of Barcelona, bordering Terrassa, with 7,817 inhabitants. Popularly known as la Tarumba, it was formed from three former Romanesque parishes, Sant Miquel de Sorbet, Sant Miquel de Toudell and Santa Maria de Toudell, which were part of the territory of Terrassa until 1849. The village is divided into two settlements, on the ridge of the Sorbet range, each around its own fortified house. From 1950 it became a summer resort for people from Terrassa and Barcelona, and its population rose from barely a thousand inhabitants in 1970 to seven thousand in 2005, driven by industry in the Can Mir and Can Trias industrial estates and by new housing developments. It preserves the tradition of the textile colonies of its industrial past.
