Santa Eulàlia de Riuprimer
Village
Santa Eulàlia de Riuprimer is a municipality in the Osona comarca, in Barcelona province, at the western edge of the Plana de Vic, with predominantly mountainous terrain, at 568 meters above sea level and 7 km from Vic. The territory was organized around Torroella Castle, which already existed in the year 904 and around 1130 gained the status of a fully-established castle (castell termenat); until the nineteenth century, the bishops of Vic held civil dominion over it. On 17 May 1705, in the nearby hermitage of Sant Sebastià, the Austracist supporters known as the vigatans coordinated the details of the Pact of Genoa. The town received the nickname Santa Eulàlia del Merder because of the poor state of the waters of the Mèder river, which rises in the village itself. It has 1,516 inhabitants (INE 2025).
