What to see and do in Sant Pere Sallavinera

Sant Pere Sallavinera
Village
Sant Pere Sallavinera is one of the smallest and most depopulated municipalities in l'Anoia, in the province of Barcelona, in the north of the comarca, bordering Bages and Solsonès, in the Alta Segarra. It was known simply as Sallavinera until 1984; the place name comes from the castle of Sallavinera and probably derives from the Latin ipsa lavinaria, “the fall of water”. It has 177 inhabitants and lives off rain-fed agriculture, livestock farming, poultry farming, mining, and the bottling of mineral water. It preserves the Romanesque parish church of San Pedro Sallavinera, and in Boixadors the castle and the church of San Pedro, also Romanesque. It also has the medieval settlement of La Fortesa and the Calaf-Salavinera aerodrome.
