What to see and do in Brime de Sog

Brime de Sog
Village
Brime de Sog is a hamlet in the Vidriales valley, in the comarca of Benavente y Los Valles, province of Zamora, between San Pedro de Ceque and Santibáñez de Vidriales; it has 114 inhabitants and its settlement is divided into two quarters. Its church of Santa María was built in the early 20th century in masonry with brick detailing, combining neo-Gothic elements with details of Mudéjar tradition. It may have had a hillfort origin, like other places in the valley, whose communities came under the control of the Roman camp of Petavonium, raised after the conquest to oversee iron extraction and taxation in the area; abandoned in the Late Empire, the communities returned to their former hillfort pattern. Later Andalusi influence was weaker here than in other areas of north-eastern Zamora.
