Puras
Village
Puras is a municipality in the Valladolid part of the Tierra de Pinares, situated on a spur of land bordering the province of Segovia, beside the N-601 road, 55 kilometres from Valladolid and at 805 metres above sea level. In the mid-19th century, when Pascual Madoz described it in his Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico, it had 120 inhabitants; today it has 44. Its name accompanies that of neighbouring Almenara in the Roman site of Almenara-Puras, which extends into a corner of its territory. Its parish church is dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady.
