What to see and do in Rubí de Bracamonte

Rubí de Bracamonte
Village
Rubí de Bracamonte is a village in the district of Tierra de Medina, in the south of the province of Valladolid, about eleven kilometres southwest of Medina del Campo, in the Campiñas Meridionales, at an altitude of 756 metres. It has 207 inhabitants. Already mentioned in 1250 as Ravé, dependent on the Vicariato de Medina del Campo, it was a prosperous town in the early 16th century; in 1655 it passed into the hands of Luis Rubí de Bracamonte, Marquis of Fuente el Sol. Its church of Santa María del Castillo, from the 16th century, rectangular in plan with three ogival naves, stands on the mound where a fortress is believed to have stood; its main altarpiece was carved by Martín de Arce in 1685, reusing earlier Hispano-Flemish panels. The municipality has hiking routes such as that of las Grullas and that of las Fuentes.
