What to see and do in Villanubla

Villanubla
Village
Villanubla is a municipality of about 2,900 inhabitants located on the páramo of the Montes Torozos, at 848 metres of altitude and 14 km from the city of Valladolid, where Valladolid Airport and the Ala 37 of the Ejército del Aire are based. It keeps alive the paloteo, a traditional dance with two sticks performed to the sound of the dulzaina, and preserves the Casa de la Inquisición, of which only the coat of arms carved in stone remains, a Romanesque church and the former Convento de los Santos, known as the Fuente de los Ángeles. The main day of its festivities is 8 September, and around those dates the Feria de los Oficios is also held, a re-enactment of traditional trades such as the gypsy witch, the barber, the confectioner or the patrol of cloaked civil guards.
The high plateau of Villanubla
Nature
Villanubla sits at one of the highest and most exposed points of the moorland of Torozos, a plateau of open fields swept by the wind where the winters are long and cold. It is that altitude that led to the airport of Valladolid being installed here.
The Inquisition House of Villanubla
Curiosity
Among the heritage of the village figures the so-called Casa de la Inquisición, next to the Convento de los Santos, also known as La Fuente de Los Ángeles. Villanubla also preserves the paloteo, a traditional dance performed with two sticks to the sound of the dulzaina.
Fair of los Oficios de Villanubla
Activity
Every 8 September, coinciding with the main festivity, the village mounts a historical recreation in which the market stalls represent the traditional trades of the moorland, with live demonstrations and dulzaina music.
