What to see and do in Gallegos de Hornija

Gallegos de Hornija
Village
Gallegos de Hornija is a hamlet in the province of Valladolid that in the Middle Ages was part of the Merindad del Infantazgo de Valladolid, as recorded in the Becerro de las Behetrías de Castilla, drawn up by the Cortes de Valladolid of 1351 when the hidalgos asked King Pedro I to convert the behetrías into solariego lands. It now has around a hundred residents and keeps the church of San Martín, the hermitage of Nuestra Señora del Villar and a Herrerian bridge.

Nature
At 715 metres of altitude, this village of little more than a hundred inhabitants sits on the middle stretch of the Hornija, among riverside groves and cereal fields. The poplar plantations and reed beds of the channel form a green corridor in the middle of the dry-farmed land of the Torozos.
