What to see and do in Quintanilla de Trigueros

Quintanilla de Trigueros
Village
Quintanilla de Trigueros is a hamlet of about a hundred inhabitants in the comarca of the Campiña del Pisuerga, in an upland area noticeably higher than the rest of the comarca, 35 kilometres from Valladolid and 13 from Cigales. It is the head of the Cigales designation of origin, to which it is enologically attached. The village is reached by the VA-903 road, which connects it to Trigueros del Valle, from where it links up with the VA-900 towards Cigales. In the mid-19th century the place had 352 inhabitants, considerably more than today, as recorded in Pascual Madoz's Dictionary.

Nature
At 784 metres of altitude, above the neighbouring villages, the municipal district of 32.16 square kilometres is a moorland of cereal and vine where barely a hundred people now live.

Food and drink
With its vines at 784 metres, the municipal district is one of the highest of the Cigales designation of origin, a level that delays ripening and gives wines of marked acidity in a village of barely a hundred residents.
