Taroda
Village
Taroda is a village in the district of Almazán, in the province of Soria, with 45 inhabitants, situated 53 kilometres south of the provincial capital, on the road to Madrid, and belonging to the diocese of Osma. In the mid-19th century it had 86 houses and, in 1842, 304 residents. Its economy is based on dryland farming, dominated by wheat, barley and sunflower, to which crops such as soybean and pea have been added in recent years. It preserves the church of San Esteban Protomártir, the hermitage of San Roque, a 16th-century Renaissance doorway and the remains of a castle, as well as archaeological remains in the area known as Llano del Villosillo.
