Sebúlcor
Village
Sebúlcor is a town in the comarca of Villa y Tierra de Sepúlveda, right in the heart of the Hoces del Duratón natural park, province of Segovia, whose karst canyon shelters griffon vultures, Egyptian vultures and golden eagles amid juniper groves, common junipers and riverside forests. It traditionally lived off agriculture, family livestock farming and the resin of its pines, activities today largely replaced by pig farming and rural tourism. It preserves the gacería, a local jargon shared with other villages of the Ochavo de Cantalejo. With about 239 inhabitants, the Franciscan convent of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de la Hoz lies in ruins next to the river, founded in 1231 and abandoned with the 1835 disentailment, declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) in 2012.
