Fuenterrebollo
Village
Fuenterrebollo is a municipality of about 313 inhabitants and 36 square kilometres in the Community of Town and Land of Sepúlveda, in the province of Segovia, part of the Ochavo de Cantalejo, one of the eight districts into which the Tierra de Sepúlveda was divided after Alfonso VI confirmed its charter (fuero) in 1076 to organize the resettlement of the territory. In 1247 it paid the cathedral chapter and the bishop of Segovia a tribute of 3 maravedís and 9 sueldos. In 1493 the Catholic Monarchs granted hamlets of twelve or more households the licence to appoint a local mayor (alcalde pedáneo), a privilege held by Fuenterrebollo. The Community of Sepúlveda defended its pine forests with ordinances such as those of 1519, after the felling of woodland in the ochavo de Cantalejo.
