Bercimuel
Village
Bercimuel is a hamlet of the Community of Town and Land of Sepúlveda, in the province of Segovia, with 34 inhabitants, which gives its name and status as capital to one of the ochavos into which the land of Sepúlveda was divided, always under the crown. In the mid-19th century it had 215 inhabitants, according to Pascual Madoz's Dictionary. It has its own coat of arms and flag, approved in 2021. It preserves the Romanesque church of Santo Tomás Apóstol, with an altarpiece of San Juan Bautista with Mannerist paintings, and an old watering trough. It celebrates its feasts on the first Sunday of July, in honour of Santo Tomás, a cultural week in the second half of August, and the Virgin of the Rosary on the first Sunday of October.
