What to see and do in Aldeonte

Aldeonte
Village
Aldeonte is a municipality of about 55 inhabitants in the Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Sepúlveda, in Segovia, with the hamlets of El Olmillo and Covachuelas; its name evolved from the original Aldea de la Fuente, documented around 1650, passing through Aldeayonte and Aldefonte. The original settlement comprised three quarters, of which only the present one has remained inhabited; the other two, Santa María del Prado and La Reguera, were abandoned. Its baroque church, from the 17th century, is dedicated to San Frutos, whose image, according to legend, returned by itself from Encinas in the 16th century. Every first Saturday of September it is carried in procession to the ruins of the sanctuary of the Virgen de los Prados, in the old abandoned settlement of Santa María del Prado.
