What to see and do in Torre Val de San Pedro

Torre Val de San Pedro
Village
Torre Val de San Pedro is a Segovian municipality of the Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Pedraza, on the northern slope of the sierra de Guadarrama, whose territory, partly within the national park, rises to the 2,209 meters of El Nevero. It brings together the settlements of La Salceda, Torre Val de San Pedro and Valle de San Pedro. Its church of San Pedro Apóstol, of Romanesque origin though rebuilt between 1733 and 1745, preserves one of the finest Romanesque baptismal fonts in the province; in the settlement of La Torre, the church of Santa Ana displays a 15th-century Mudejar coffered ceiling, restored in 2005, above its three ashlar naves. It now has about 165 inhabitants.
Mudéjar coffered ceiling of Santa Ana
Monument
The church of Santa Ana preserves a Mudéjar wooden ceiling of the fifteenth century, one of the few that survive in the Segovian piedmont, over a fabric altered in later periods.
The monstrance by Antonio Salbán
Monument
Among the liturgical furnishings of Santa Ana stands out a silver monstrance dated 1699 and wrought by the master silversmith Antonio Salbán, a piece of Baroque goldsmithing surprising in a municipality of barely 165 inhabitants.
From the Cega to El Nevero
Nature
The municipal district spans an enormous difference in height: from the 1,030 metres of the Cega meadow to the 2,209 of the summit of El Nevero, with part of the territory included in the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park.
