Marazuela
Village
A village of the Comunidad de Ciudad y Tierra de Segovia, in the Campiña Segoviana, 20 km from the provincial capital, with a little more than fifty-odd inhabitants. It preserves the Palacio de los Marqueses de Lozoya, whose owners are buried in the hermitage of the Santo Cristo del Humilladero, next to the cemetery, and, at the entrance to the village, an old farrier's stocks and the pelota court. Its church of la Asunción, of Gothic design and three naves, was built in 1538 by Diego de Cubillas following the design of García de Cubillas, and its tower is topped with a slate spire. In the square occupied by the church there is a fuente de zanca, a device used to draw water, and inside, the altarpieces of la Asunción and of the Santo Cristo, the work of Eugenio de la Cruz from 1693.
