Codorniz
Village
Codorniz is a municipality of around 294 inhabitants in the Campiña Segoviana, bordering the province of Ávila, which also includes the settlement of Montuenga, incorporated in 1970 and constituted as a minor local entity in 1976; both belonged to the Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Arévalo. Its territory holds record of three medieval deserted settlements: Estepar, Navalperal del Campo and Valverde del Campo. On its territory stands tower number 12 of the Madrid–Irún optical telegraph line, built in the mid-19th century, unrelated to the local legends, without documentary basis, that attribute the village's origin to a convent or to the transhumance drove roads.
