Valseca
Village
Valseca is a village in the province of Segovia, in the Alfoz de Segovia district, located on the Madrid Camino de Santiago and formerly belonging to the sexmo de Cabezas of the Community of Town and Land of Segovia. It has about 208 inhabitants, whose economy is based on dryland cereals and above all on chickpeas, protected by its own guarantee mark. Its parish church, dedicated to Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, is considered one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in the province and was designed by the architect Domingo Díaz Gamones. On the outskirts stand the ermita of San Roque, with a Renaissance altarpiece by the so-called Maestro de Valseca, and the ermita of the Santo Cristo del Humilladero, octagonal in plan and built in the 16th century.
