What to see and do in Adrada de Pirón

Adrada de Pirón
Village
Adrada de Pirón is a hamlet in the Alfoz de Segovia district, about 12 km from the capital, with 39 inhabitants (INE 2025), situated beside the Arroyo del Valle, two kilometres from the Pirón river. Its centre is divided into two districts at different heights, joined as if in a circle. It preserves the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, a small, simple Romanesque-style temple built of limestone masonry, and a 1904 fountain fed by a spring that never runs dry even in the worst droughts, the most characteristic feature of the village. The Encalá bridge, over the Pirón, once served the passage of transhumant livestock. Local tradition recalls El Tuerto de Pirón, a bandit born in neighbouring Santo Domingo de Pirón who raided churches and roads and operated especially in these lands.
The Caño Fountain
Curiosity
Dated 1904, for decades it was the only water point available all year round in this village of 39 inhabitants spread over two quarters at different heights; beside it a restored farrier's stocks is preserved.
