Pozos de Hinojo
Village
Pozos de Hinojo is a municipality in the comarca of Vitigudino, in the province of Salamanca, which brings together the localities of Pozos de Hinojo, Traguntía and El Palancar and today stands at around 48 inhabitants, against the 83 it had in the year 2000. The Leonese kings resettled it in the early Middle Ages under the name "Pozos de Fenoio," the Leonese form of hinojo (fennel), which was Castilianized as "Pozos de Ynoxo" around the 16th century. In the 12th century it came to form part of the alfoz of Ledesma created by Ferdinand II of León, as part of the Roda de Cipérez, and ecclesiastically it was a dependency of Guadramiro. With the provincial reorganization of 1833 it was assigned to Salamanca, within the Leonese Region.
