Bóveda del Río Almar
Village
Bóveda del Río Almar is a municipality in the comarca of the Tierra de Peñaranda, in the province of Salamanca, through whose territory flows the Zamplón river, besides the Almar that gives it its name. It already appears in 1107 as 'Bovatam, in rivulum de Almar' in a donation by Alfonso VI of León to the bishopric of Salamanca, a document kept in the Diocesan Archive; it later belonged to the Community of Villa and Tierra de Ávila, in the sexmo of San Vicente, and to the Ávila bishopric until 1833, when it passed to the province of Salamanca. In the mid-19th century it had 297 inhabitants, according to Pascual Madoz's dictionary; today it has 186 (INE 2025). Its parish church is dedicated to Nuestra Señora de las Angustias.
