Villaseco de los Gamitos
Village
Villaseco de los Gamitos is a village of about 138 inhabitants in the Salamanca district of Tierra de Ledesma, included in the jurisdiction of Ledesma since Ferdinand II of León created its alfoz in the 12th century. It was originally called Villarseco, from 'villar', a word that in the Leonese language means village. It preserves the San Vicente church, a traditional forge, old washing places, water mills on its stream, the Muélledes or Casa del Moro dolmen, and the Fuentefresno pond. In the mid-19th century it had 194 recorded inhabitants.
