What to see and do in Doñinos de Ledesma

Doñinos de Ledesma
Village
Doñinos de Ledesma is a municipality in the Salamanca district of Tierra de Ledesma, with 62 inhabitants spread among the settlements of Doñinos de Ledesma, Tajurmientos, Tuta and Zafrón, as well as the depopulated hamlets of Las Dehesitas, Gudino, Tozas and Valderas. It arose in the early Middle Ages with the repopulations by the Leonese kings, and was included in the jurisdiction of Ledesma once Ferdinand II of León created its alfoz in the 12th century; its hamlet of Zafrón is even older, founded in the 10th century under Ramiro II of León. It preserves the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción church, a medieval fountain, the dolmen of the ribera de la Gudina in Zafrón, and the Carrasco Zapata dolmen in Tozas. The feast of Saint Blaise is celebrated every 3 February.

Nature
In the annexed village of Zafrón a dolmen is preserved beside the bank of the Gudina, and another, that of Carrasco Zapata, at the spot known as Tozas; both attest to the megalithic settlement of a municipal district that today brings together barely sixty households and four deserted places.
