What to see and do in Molinillo

Molinillo
Village
Molinillo, in the Sierra de Francia comarca, province of Salamanca, sits on a spur above the confluence of the Alagón and Sangusín rivers, cut more than 200 metres deep; it has 43 inhabitants in under seven square kilometres. Its origin goes back to the resettlements by Alfonso IX of León in the Middle Ages, when it was included in the alfoz of Miranda del Castañar. Agriculture, traditionally on stepped terraces on the hillsides, has produced cereals, pulses, chestnuts and above all grapes and olives; until 2007 it had a cooperative winery whose wine enjoyed prestige in the comarca. It celebrates Santa Cruz on 3 May and San Bartolomé on 24 August.

Food and drink
The main agricultural products of the municipal district are grapes and olives. Until 2007 a cooperative winery operated whose wine had prestige in the comarca; the herd of goats and pigs that went with it has disappeared completely.
