What to see and do in Forfoleda

Forfoleda
Village
Forfoleda is a municipality of about 207 inhabitants in the Salamanca comarca of La Armuña, whose territory also includes Santibáñez del Cañedo. With historically abundant vineyards, it forms part, together with ten other municipalities of Salamanca, of the Tierra del Vino de Zamora denomination of origin, and still preserves several family wineries dug into the rock. To the north of the territory, next to Valdelosa, stretches the largest cork oak forest in Europe, amid holm oaks, rockroses and oaks that make the area a good starting point for hiking and mountain-biking routes. Its name alludes to an old spot of fallen leaves or brushwood, traditionally used as fodder for livestock.
