What to see and do in El Bodón

El Bodón
Village
El Bodón is a municipality in the comarca of Ciudad Rodrigo, in the Campo de Robledo, whose territory brings together seven settlements — Aldealba de Hortaces, El Bodón, Melimbrazos, Pascualarina, Tejadillo, Valquemada and the depopulated Collado de Malvarín — with about 247 inhabitants in total. On September 25, 1811, during the Peninsular War, it was the scene of the combat of El Bodón between French troops and Wellington's allied forces, made up of English, Portuguese and Spanish troops: the French cavalry took two Portuguese artillery pieces, but the 5th English infantry regiment charged against it and recovered them. The following day, Wellington declined battle at Fuenteguinaldo and withdrew to Portugal.
