Carpio de Azaba
Village
Carpio de Azaba is a municipality in the comarca of Ciudad Rodrigo, in the province of Salamanca, with about 110 inhabitants spread across seven settlements —Carpio itself along with Aldeanueva de Azaba, Aldehuela de los Gallegos, Fonseca, Hincapié, Manzano and Palacios— dominated by the large dehesas of the Campo de Azaba, those of Fonseca, Hincapié, Manzanilla and Aldeanueva. Founded during the medieval resettlement by the kings of León and integrated into the jurisdiction of Ciudad Rodrigo, it passed to the province of Salamanca after the 1833 reorganisation; in the mid-19th century it had 186 inhabitants. It celebrates its festivals on 15 May, in honour of San Isidro Labrador.
