What to see and do in Villarrabé

Villarrabé
Village
Villarrabé is a municipality of about 170 inhabitants, situated at 890 metres above sea level, 58 kilometres north-west of Palencia. It is made up of four settlements, Villarrabé, Villambroz, San Llorente del Páramo and San Martín del Valle, each with its own patronal feast: San Pelayo on 26 June in Villarrabé, Santa Inés on 21 August in Villambroz, San Lorenzo on 10 August in San Llorente and San Martín de Tours on 11 November in San Martín del Valle. It lives on cereal farming and sheep and cattle raising; in Villambroz stands the Central Lechera Vega Saldaña, and in Villarrabé, the Quesería Artesanal Valle de San Juan. With barely two residents per square kilometre, it is one of the least populated municipalities in the comarca.

Food and drink
Sheep and cattle raising sustain in this municipality a dairy plant and an artisan cheese dairy, in a comarca where sheep's cheese traditionally accompanies round loaf bread and wine.
