Valbuena de Pisuerga
Village
Valbuena de Pisuerga is a municipality in the district of El Cerrato, in the province of Palencia, at 770 metres above sea level, with fewer than fifty inhabitants, down from the 313 it had in 1900. Its territory, covering 28.97 km², also includes the hamlets of San Cebrián de Buena Madre and the depopulated Casas del Monte Polanco. As a "lugar de pueblos solos" it belonged to the Partido de Castrojeriz, one of the fourteen that made up the Intendencia de Burgos between 1785 and 1833, with crown jurisdiction and a local hamlet mayor (alcalde pedáneo). It preserves the church of San Martín de Tours, from the second half of the 17th century, with a single nave, a groin vault and a stone bell-gable.
