What to see and do in Reinoso de Cerrato

Reinoso de Cerrato
Village
Reinoso de Cerrato is a hamlet of fewer than sixty inhabitants overlooking the río Pisuerga, fourteen kilometres from Palencia, already settled in Celtiberian times for its strategic position above the riverbank. Recorded as Rinoso in the 11th century, in the 12th century it was divided into two quarters, Reynoso, with its parish of Santa María, and La Puente de Reynoso, where there were flour mills under the Commandery of the Order of St John. Its 12th-century church of Santa María holds two Baroque altarpieces, a monumental carving of Santa Lucía attributed to the school of Gaspar de Becerra, from the 16th century, 15th-century Castilian panels and a group depicting Santa Ana, the Virgin and the Child, also from the 15th century.
