What to see and do in Arganza

Arganza
Village
Arganza is a Bercian municipality of rugged relief, with its highest point at the Alto de Fiales, at 954 metres, and one of the municipalities of León where Galician is spoken. Watered by the Forneda and Cúa rivers, it holds a Roman castro near Campelo, possibly Astur and later reused by the Romans, and preserves the memory of a royal palace built in the 10th century by Vermudo II of León; in the late Middle Ages it was a seigneury of the Count of Lemos and later of the Marquis of Villafranca. It lives off agriculture, with large stretches of DO Bierzo vineyards surrounding the palacio de Arganza and its 16th-century parish churches, such as those of San Vicente and San Miguel de Arganza. It has about 800 inhabitants.
