Arandilla
Village
Arandilla is a town of 157 inhabitants set on the right bank of the Arandilla river, in the comarca of La Ribera, within the judicial district of Aranda de Duero, between Coruña del Conde and Peñaranda de Duero. Through its territory flow the streams of Fuente Parrilla, Valdeolmos and del Valle down toward the river. It was a manorial lordship of the marquis of Velamazán, who appointed its mayor, until the fall of the Old Regime, when it was constituted as a constitutional town council. On top of a hill above the town stands the ermita of San Isidro, which until 1940 was the parish church dedicated to Santa Lucía, with a tower that had previously served as a military watchtower. The village celebrates its patronal festivities on 15 and 16 August, for the Assumption of the Virgin and San Roque.
