Valmala
Village
Valmala is a municipality in the Montes de Oca, in the province of Burgos, with barely 24 inhabitants, already mentioned among the hamlets of the alfoz of Cerezo in the charter that Alfonso VII of León granted to the town of Cerezo de Río Tirón on 10 January 1146, among 134 hamlets that also included Halariza and Sancta Crux del Valle. Its church is dedicated to San Martín Obispo and today is dependent on the parish of Pradoluengo, in the archpriesthood of Oca-Tirón. Depopulation has been drastic: at the end of the Ancien Régime and in the mid-19th century it had 174 inhabitants.
