What to see and do in Los Barrios de Bureba

Los Barrios de Bureba
Village
Los Barrios de Bureba is a town in the comarca of La Bureba, in the judicial district of Briviesca, province of Burgos, situated on the plain where the Oca and Matapán rivers meet, 54 kilometres from the provincial capital; it has 179 inhabitants. It belonged to the cuadrilla of La Vid, one of the seven into which the Merindad de Bureba was divided, under the lordship of the count of la Revilla, who appointed its pedáneo councillor. Beside the village stands the Romanesque hermitage of San Facundo, known as Sanfagún and declared a monument in 1983, around which an ethnographic museum of tools and agricultural machinery has been gathered. The festivities are held on 29 June, in honour of San Pedro and San Pablo, and on the first weekend of August, in thanksgiving.

Nature
The Oca crosses the municipal district in its final stretch before giving itself up to the Ebro at Oña. It is, together with the Tirón, the Homino and the Oroncillo, one of the four rivers that spread the water across the whole plain of the Bureba.
