Castil de Peones
Village
Castil de Peones is a municipality of 26 inhabitants in the La Bureba corridor, province of Burgos, crossed by the N-1 road and the A-1 motorway 31 kilometres from the provincial capital. The relief combines the northern plateaus, which reach 850 metres, with the first foothills of the Montes de Oca to the south, which exceed 1000; the village stands at 793 metres, beside the Cerratón river. At the end of the Old Regime, its constitutional town council numbered 234 inhabitants, almost ten times today's population. It preserves the parish church of San Pedro Apóstol, on which several neighbouring localities depend. Part of the La Brújula wind farm rises within its municipal area, with 21 wind turbines grouped in the Llanos de San Martín park.
