Reinoso
Village
Reinoso is a hamlet of 21 inhabitants in the comarca of La Bureba, in Burgos, seven kilometres from Briviesca, in a municipal area dominated by woods of oak and holm oak. Excavations of the El Pendón dolmen, east of the village, brought to light a large Chalcolithic gallery grave, dated between 3300 and 3000 BC and covered by a stone tumulus about twenty metres in diameter, with funerary offerings such as arrowheads and pendants made of wild boar teeth, as well as earlier Neolithic remains of a settlement dating to around 5000 BC. The grave later underwent a ritual sealing process, with a pyre at the entrance to the chamber.
