Cardeñadijo
Village
Cardeñadijo is a municipality of 1,445 inhabitants adjoining the provincial capital of Burgos, in the comarca of Alfoz de Burgos. It was an abbatial holding dependent on the Hospital del Rey, with a pedáneo mayor. Since the start of the century it has grown with new developments such as La Quinta de Cardeña, and has an industrial estate devoted to sanitation components and the manufacture of morcillas and cured meats. It preserves the church of San Martín Obispo and celebrates the festivities of El Carmen, San Martín and Santa Águeda. It is known in the comarca for the quality of its morcillas and its bread, and its restaurants serve grilled meats and fish washed down with Ribera del Duero wine or cider.
