What to see and do in Espinosa de Cervera

Espinosa de Cervera
Village
Espinosa de Cervera is a town in the Arlanza comarca, in the province of Burgos, located on the southern slope of the Peña Cervera, within the natural area of the Sabinares del Arlanza, where griffon vultures and Egyptian vultures breed, and on the route of the Camino del Cid; it has a population of 81 inhabitants. To the south of the municipality begins the Ribera del Duero, while to the north extends the Sierra de la Demanda. It was part of the jurisdiction of the Arauzos, a realengo (crown land), in the district of Aranda de Duero, and already appears mentioned, as Espinossa de Ceruera, in the Censo de Vecindarios de la Corona de Castilla of 1591. It preserves the church of San Millán, with a Romanesque tower and apse, and in the village a fountain of the same period can be seen.
The Peñas de Cervera
Nature
This limestone ridge separates the valley of the Arlanza from the lands of the Duero and reaches heights close to twelve hundred metres. Its crests and rock faces, with juniper and gall oak, serve as a refuge for cliff-nesting raptors.
