Ciruelos de Cervera
Village
Ciruelos de Cervera is a municipality of 90 inhabitants located in the Burgos district of Arlanza, south of the Peña Cervera and next to the Sabinares del Arlanza natural area, declared a Special Protection Area for its populations of griffon vulture and Egyptian vulture. Besides the village of Ciruelos, the municipal capital, the municipality includes the minor local entity of Briongos and the scattered hamlet of Valdegabón. The village is presided over by the church of San Sebastián Mártir, which retains a Gothic chancel and porch from the 13th century; in the 18th century two side aisles were added, the south façade was moved to the west end, and the doorway was closed with a neoclassical pediment dated 1783, crowned by a sculpture of the patron saint.
