What to see and do in Mandayona

Mandayona
Village
Mandayona is a municipality in the comarca of the Serranía de Guadalajara, in the north of the province, between La Alcarria and La Sierra, within the sphere of influence of Sigüenza. It includes the settlements of Mandayona and Aragosa, with 285 inhabitants, and it is where the Barranco del Río Dulce natural park ends, linked to the waters of the Dulce river, from which comes the dish that provincial recipe books attribute to it: crayfish in rum, stewed with a splash of liquor flambéed before adding the sofrito. It preserves the church of San Pedro Apóstol and a hermitage dedicated to Nuestra Señora de la Soledad. On 8 September it celebrates its patronal festivities in honour of the Virgen de la Paz, with floats and fire bulls. The Ruta de la Lana and the Camino del Cid pass through the municipality.
