What to see and do in Luzón

Luzón
Village
Luzón is a municipality of Señorío de Molina, in Guadalajara, with 50 inhabitants, on the banks of the Tajuña, at 1,177 m. Its name may be related to the Celtiberian tribe of the Lusones, which left hillforts and forts across the territory, among them the city of La Cava. Nearby stands a medieval tower, the castle of the Moors or Atalaya de Luzón, now progressively falling into ruin. From the 12th century it formed part of the Común de la Villa y Tierra de Medinaceli, and was a lordship of the Vera family and later of the Medinaceli, after a purchase between 1375 and 1417 involving lawsuits and a public auction. It is known for the Diablos de Luzón, a carnival masquerade in which young men blacken themselves with soot and oil, fit potato teeth and horns, and parade with the mascaritas; the Virgen de la Peña is celebrated on 12 September.
